Simple meter and compound meter

What’s the difference…I suck at theory…

haha
one meter (1 m)
several meters (eg. 1+1 m = 2 m)
:rectum: :stop:

damn, this is very fundamental.

2/4, 4/4, 2/2 = simple

3/8, 9/16 = compound

hahahahahaha

c if u pozzezzd da zame legendary intahllect of da nerd, u wud noe to refer to da global theory of SDizm:

ZPEED = DIZTANCE/TYM

n inztantly deduce da unit fo diztance = metahz 8)

erhh.ok…wut makes it simple OR compound tho???

is 6/4 and 9/4 compound or simple?

I am teh suckorz at teh theory

compound.

6 and 9, divisible in 3 = coumpound.

PS, you really need to understand this, otherwise very difficult to analyze pieces cause you understand the rhythmic construction.

hahaa
btw
bcauze rhythythymz be uzually dividedh into bitz ov 2 or 3 beatz me’d zay 2/x n 3/x be zimple n othaz be compound. dunno what me zhud do wif 1/x
:kan: :stop:

wow… u do suck…
6/4 = 2 dotted minim (half note) beats per bar
compound duple time

9/4 = 3 dotted half-note beats per bar
compound triple time

compound time because each beat is divisible by 3, ie. 1 dotted minim can be divided into 3 crotchets (quarter notes) without the use of triplets.

3/8, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and other irregular time sigs like 5/4 and 7/4 are all simple times (5/4 is simple quintuple time, 7/4 i think is simple septuple time)

6/8, 9/8, 12/8, 6/4, 9/4 etc all compounds.
