Teacher help

Ok, my piano teacher died a few weeks ago, and now I’m looking for a new one. I met with this one guy, has a bachelors in piano performance. I started playing the pathetique sonata, but he stopped me after the grave section, then had me practice scales, and started playing a bunch of baroque music, saying I needed to play more bach, mozart, and hayden. Altogether the guy seemed kind of weird. Anyways, what should I be looking for in a teacher, what rates are reasonable, and do I even need a teacher (not my idea, I insist I have long way to go).

Thanks in advance
