The last great romantic

Then variously da Bullet, Cherkassky (possibly), then Wild.

Probably now da KAT, if anyone.

In da sad event dat da Kat leavez uz, iz dere any worthy, appropriate succezzah to dis wikid lineage?

The Ho reference is laughable honestly, aside maybe from towards the very end of his career. He emerged as a modernist in every sense of the word, and his playing style never had anything to do with the romantic ideals.

Neither does Kat’s.

Today there is only Volodos - and he too with a fair colouring of later influences.

I think Kat embodies romanticism in that he has an absolutely enormous rep covering this era. Agreed that he’s not a golden age pianist in a time-warp, whereas Bolet and Wild probably were. (Wild incidentally is my second favourite pianist after :zif:)

Surely Gekic would fit as romantic.

Yeah, though I think he’s trying hard for a classic romantic eccentric crossbreed  :camel:
