Yeah tin foil is overkill. You can get away with fine mesh or even chickenwire like stuff based on the frequency you want to block. (there is a calc you can do based on freq wave size to size of shield)

Do they have a durag variety? 
Turban offers more opportunity for doing recordings and other dual uses. Would block interference off the mics too.
