I’ve been going through some old videos and came across this footage. This is from a concert which was at least a couple of years ago (sometime in 2005 I think?); I remember it particularly well because of the extremely short notice I was given. This is a different performance to all of the other Wanderer recordings of mine floating around. The venue is Greenfield Hall at the Manhattan School of Music. Thought you guys might enjoy.
3 things: (i) the technical finish of the performance isn’t as great as it ought to be, and given more notice, could have been much better; (ii) I’ve subsequently changed my conception of the piece quite substantially (especially in relation to the tempo of the third movement!); and yet (iii) notwithstanding all of the above, I think the energy is still there, and that’s what matters to me.
