Canadian what’s your opinion on the Solti recs of Wagner operas?
I all of the Wagner I have is Solti, and I’ve only other recs i’ve heard are the Barenboim ones which I don’t like whatsoever. Barenboim doesn’t have any character or life in his recordings they’re very “flat” and “stale”.
Solti is the best I’ve heard, but then again I haven’t researched very much.
actually I’m interested in getting into Wagner, but have only heard bits and pieces, where is a good place to start? btw thanks for the upload though I can’t dload or will be pushed over my limit.
randomly his symphonies sound exactly like Beethoven.

Tannhauser is my fave opera. I’d start there, but I’m biased
don’t bother, I can’t download anything for a week or so. I’m about 40 MB from my limit, after which I’ll be cut back to :znail: speed. I’m actually more interested in Opera, because I like vocal music.
I have the Solti set, and it’s collectiing dust on my shelf.
When it comes to Wagner, you don’t need anything except Furtwangler. Solti is a good choice if you need good sound though.
I’ll post the Furt Ring for all the elite members in a bit.

i sang in the Opera Parsifal when i was a kid (was in the London Oratory Schola) at the Royal Festival Hall. Domingo was parsifal. does anyone randomly know if there was a recording of this made? i would love to get hold of it. i cant really remember it much coz i was young and it the first of my concert experiences.

i say you are good in discussions and stuff, which this forum needs a bit more of. you could do with posting some stuff though. no mule or torrent crap. actual decent CDs, something that you value and you want others to listen to for a reason and not for respect. the reason i post the jansons is because i have a lot of respect for him as a conductor, i want others to try him out and buy his stuff and also because i think not enough people listen to music outside of the 88. if it wasnt for canadian, none of this would be happening, so tru. massive respec to canadian.
