Not that anyone’s asked but I think that’s a really hard proposition. No one has captured him more strikingly than anyone else IMO, it’s rather a plethora of portrayals and even within one and the same work my favourite recs are not seldom from completely different branches of the tree.
Who is Chopin anyway? A strong nationalistic hero… or a delicate dreamer? A revolutionary romantic… or a restrained classicist? An elegant salon composer… or a divine visionary? An exciting virtuoso… or a sensitive poet? Cases have been made for all of them, and even in a single given work it’s not always clear to me which is the more convincing approach.
