The beach ideas there by the way Mikhail brought about some surreal memories. We only have light for a few hours each day here now, if you can call that light, and recalling days at the beach with 25C and where you can still read a book out in the garden at midnight… It feels like something I did in another life, on another planet.

I’m actually surprised how late the sun sets in summer here, something like 10pm (with daylight savings), doesn’t usually last past 9pm in Oz.

It’s all I’ve known, but I actually like oscillating between these extremes. Living through this darkness during the winters is a bit of a trial but I think it makes you appreciate spring so much more when the light returns and the world springs to life again. And during the summers it’s just the opposite instead, then you have these extended dawns/dusks but it never gets completely dark. There’s something enchanted over both seasons, but for winter to work it requires that you actually have winter - with snow - which has been largely missing as of late. +2C, rain and a quasi-perpetual darkness for four months is… that is tough.

It sounds like nothing I’ve ever experienced.
I’m probably the least well travelled person in Europe, the only places I’ve been are animaland and the Netherlands, but I’d love to visit your part of the world sometime. I have a friend who lives in Gotham city who I haven’t seen in like 6-7 years, so it’d be cool to visit her.
