Why not include Kreisleriana?
Oops, knew I was forgetting something. I don’t think it’d win but it’s definitely difficult
I want to choose the Fantasie for the second movement but both Carnaval and the Symphonic etudes are more varied in difficulty
And the Toccata requires the most endurance even though it’s by far the shortest
They’re all difficult in different plays. For raw tech, probs toccata, structurally maybe the f#min zon, character zheeyat carnaval, op.12.
Zymphonic etudes and Fantasie are bastards in a number of ways although I much prefer playing the fantasie.
Id also put something like op.133 there coz there so dam elusive.

I’d stick to inspired. And in either case Schumann turned it in to music.
But yes remarkably enough I’ve never made the connection before, despite that I’ve heard the Czerny played in person.
