This has actually happened - only with Scriabin. Ugorski gave a cycle of the complete sonatas in Paris in the 1990s, but somehow ended up playing the second sonata twice and left out the 8th. :yum:

Sokolov did something like that with his 1995 concerts, as found in the Wigmore recording: Chopin 2 & 3 with Scriabin 2 & 3.

Misremembered I thinkā€¦ Zhukov played that program at Wigmore in 1997, but Sokolov hasnā€™t played Scriabinā€™s 2nd as far as Iā€™m aware.

I think that programs no. 2 (sonatas 3, 4 and Scriabin 5) and especially no. 4 (sonatas 7 & 8) can work quite nice. Scriabin 8 & Prokofiev 8 seems like a good combination.
