Yes… there’s this autumnal quality to Brendel’s sound at the piano, which I like a lot. And as always the readings have an almost psychological tone over them. I think Herr Doktor Professor Alf is underrated by pianophiles, overrated by the masses.

I like him, particularly his early recordings on Vox.
The later Philips recordings not so much.
