Which 'professional' Pianist had/has the shittiest technique?

Edwin Fischer was pretty bad.

Richter couldn’t believe that Entremont kept getting live gigs and making big label recordings. I think he was also annoyed by the marketing of Entremont as a big deal pianist.

I’ve always wondered why he kept bringing him up

Oh, yeah, how could I forget him :roll_eyes:

…wait, was he even a pianist? :rofl::rofl:

I love his early recs of Mozart, Beethoven…despite the limited technique…
They have what the Spaniards call “duende” and beauty of sound

Totally agree. Love nearly all his recordings, such a lovely sound, especially in the slow movements of Beethoven (the Emperor Concerto with Furtwangler is something to behold).

Randomly da BOLET left many legendary recs n had mammoth endurance in concert

However, a good many of them are bizarrely clumsy, slow AND ugly

I’m thinking especially of the 1940’s stuff

Around 18:40…

Man dat Liszt TE 8 sux

And this is 40’s stuff. Fuck. For the most part - clumsy and ugly, unsubtle playing.
:wheelchair:

Zero chance of a young pianist playing like this today in a pro setting, no, not even in da Cliburn amacha comp.

Bullshit’s Grand Galop is also a bad joke and a hunk of shit.

Frankly, I’m not a fan of the “great” stuff like the live Tannhäuser from the 70’s

You’d think he’d be a bit more accurate at da little cuck bitch ass :snail: tempo.

Man.
Respectfully, not to my taste, and I have yet to hear any rec dat blows moi away.

No, not even da German radio 60’s stuff.
Maybe we live in an era of athletic, irrelevant finger movers but damn - nobody plays that messy in a pro setting aside from GERM :rose:

@extrememofo

I c. What a bad fuckin joke. He plays like da POON.

Bolet made the first commercial recording of Prok II, and I still think it’s pretty gudd…

One of his “early recs” tru as he got a breakthrough quite late in his career.

I never heard it as I can’t stand da prick 2.

Da bullet even managed to make da Godo fledermaus n Chop Waltz transcriptions boring.

Diz is not bad.
He actually had a decent tonal palette but da playing consistently lacks excitement and is clumsy.

True, he was more a pianist to hear live in terms of excitement.
But the Berlin radio recordings Vol. 3 set for example contains some stunning playing IMO.
