he went to jyard AND plays scriabin etudes? wierdo confirmed! im living in a cabin trying to learn some Unsuk Chin, and browsing forums, im weird as well
god im 10 seconds in and I hate it- whats the tempo marking!? Non troppo presto- ok, cziffra just plays prestisssimo molto rubato. very cute… but brahms is incredibly careful in his variations in regards to tempo relations between variations, ESPECIALLY PAG BK 1!!!
cziffra should have stuck to hungarian rhapsodies and improvs, i mean that with love
I guezz da joke is on me then pozzibly
Da opening tempo pozz quite sedate around here
cziffra should have stuck to hungarian rhapsodies and improvs, i mean that with love
Now I get it. You are trolling. And I’m day drinking.
I’m guessing diz entire thread a TM ruse, on a Saturday morning, juz to pozt all deze insane Ziff rec. And totally REZPEC dat!
ok yes im being a bit of a troll, but honestly I see the Brahms-Paganini as his treatise on anti-liszt virtuosity, it’s supposed to have a sort-of steely German sachlichkeit and not just get tossed off like a showpiece.
did Cziffra play the Liszt paganini etudes? or scarlatti? those I can imagine liking. Or early Mozart!!
and of course at the end of the day everybody gets to like what they like, thats what makes the art interesting, blah blah blah
I hear you. “Steely” iz exactly wut I think it iz tho.
I have no idea idea wut zhergenzheeyat means but diz one of my favorite recs of all time because of da steel I hear in da zif fingahs. Not glittery pimp sheeyat, diz Brahms

hahaha I think da bel canto 10/4 mofo iz anothah @festinfurious troll charactah
YES! Kissin owns this.
wierdly I heard Robert Levin give a masterclass on this piece, a detail he brought up which I never hear is in Var. 8, Brahms intentionally ALWAYS makes a stem up on the 4th eighth note of the bar, so the melody is E F… E, G# A C … B, etc etc: the 4th 8th note always functions as a resolution of the octaves.
it sounds better!!
Not guilty.
Wut do I know about bel cunto anyway
:poon:
Iiiztnd 10 seconds n diz sound plodding, no CG at all, and tru he found da pedalz
