Which pianist's technique aged the most gracefully/furiously

Yes that’s a great disc. Faust waltz was wikid. Beautiful, clear, light handed sound.

The Katsaris recital is apparently a dual recital with some chick I‘ve never heard of. She’ll be playing the organ. I doubt I’ll attend.

Ahh, thanks. I just asked since I haven’t heard him play in almost 5 years now, and especially not after his heart problems began, but there’s no need to pick up a ticket just for my sake.

It’s only 15€, so it’s not a problem if you want. I don’t think the recording will be very good given a booming church acoustic and Katsaris’s banging.

And what exactly will da Kat be banging? Da chick’s organ?

=)
If there’s any consolation I at least USED to like his playing. It’s the Voltairean spirit, he’s the true sun king of France.

His Beethoven-Liszt is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.

Haha I hope not, she’s rough to look at. But then again, so is he.
Definitely not a programme I’d sign up for. :whale:

Emil von Sauer was going pretty well there at the end in his mid 70s.

Now u mention dat…da old ROCK  zounded incredibl fo hiz advancin age

I was thinking about this… Sauer & Rach aren’t the ones I had in mind, but it feels like we’ve forgotten some golden age mofo? I first thought it might have been Risler, but looking him up I see he never even got that old.

Not Planté, not Pugno, not da Benny… Wasn’t there someone there in the 10s or 20s who made remarkably fast and clear recordings at a very old age??

zaint zaenz legendary africa rec?

No not SS… Maybe de Greef???

Unless this is all in my head I’m sure pianopera will know who I’m thinking of when he wakes up.

SS definitely kept it. If not SS, then I don’t know who.

OFFICIALLY da firz eva SD rec :stop: :approved:

The best thing is how everyone on YT criticises his SS2 opening. Shows the hypocrisy that’s inherent in the “composer’s intent” urtext crew. They’re fine with following the composer’s intent, so long as it accords with their own personal preferences, then they try to make up excuses. 8)
